Ms Helen Meintjes

Helen Meintjes is currently the Programme Manager for the African Paediatric Fellowship Programme in the Department of Paediatric Medicine, University of Cape Town.  Her work experience over the last 20 years spans different aspects of the child health sector, including as a Senior Researcher at the Children’s Institute, a children's policy research and advocacy unit based at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and the Head of Programmes at the Children’s Hospital Trust, a non-profit organisation that raises funds for paediatric health care in the Western Cape, with a focus on the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. She received a Masters’ degree in Social Anthropology from UCT in 2001.  In 2005, together with colleagues from a non-government organisation, she established the Abaqophi BakwaZisize Abakhanyayo: the shining recorders of Zisize children’s radio project in a remote rural district in South Africa.
