RX Radio’s first live broadcast of the year took place on the 25th of January. The theme for this year was 2020 Vision: Looking to the Future.
The esteemed line up of guests included Miss Deaf SA 2019, Marisa Smit, who unpacked her journey about how she got to where she is today. She had also expressed her aspirations for 2020 and representing South Africa in the Miss Deaf Word 2020 pageant. The Western Cape Blood Transfusion Services also stopped by to show their support by discussing their ‘Making a Difference in 2020’ campaign and even handed out headbands to some of RX Radio’s reporters.
League of the Friends of the Blind, who was interviewed by Child Reporters Precious and Emily, emphasised how important it is to provide support for people who are blind or visually impaired. Every guest was nothing short of inspirational, but it doesn’t stop there. RX Radio also had the likes of Ikamva Youth, Tiffany Brown, Youth Participation Manager, Lifesaving Western Province, Uphawu Community Development Centre, physiotherapy student Leila Christensen, musician Blake Hellaby and Nal’iBali Reading Club Members. This ranges from innovative organisations, youth empowerment, community development, a young aspiring artist and even inspirational clubs. These guests were all great additions in making this day a success.
The thrill and the rush of being on air is something that will never go out of style for these reporters. To learn from others is the greatest lesson of all. Every guest had a story to tell and a lessons to be learnt.
