South African Artist Master KG’s single Jerusalema has taken the internet by storm. The song led to a dance challenge that was reportedly started in Angola when a group of friends recorded a video with the choreography and it has gone viral ever since. You might have seen this challenge all over social media over the past few weeks because it is quite hard to miss.
On the 18th of August Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital together with RX Radio and others has hopped on the trend and showed off their best moves in the #JerusalemaDanceChallenge. Many hospital staff members – ranging from doctors, nurses, supporting staff, etc. – gathered in front of the Peter Pan statue and participated in the challenge, clearly enjoying the beat of the music and the now viral dance steps. [CHECK OUT] the video below to see how it went.
There have been other hospitals joining the challenge such as the Karl Bremer Hospital, Somerset Hospital, and even the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, as well as many locations all around the world! It is clear that once this track is played you just can’t help but dance along. There is no doubt that healthcare and frontline workers have been working very hard to keep everyone safe and with the seriousness of COVID- 19, it might be hard to see the silver lining, however with this Jerusalema Dance Challenge, one can say that it brings back the positivity and unity that we all need.
